Sculpted Brick
The massive size and carved detail is what drew me to this piece. I was told that the artist creates these pieces out of a large mass of clay and carves these bricks out as he goes. He does not create the bricks individually. Instead, he creates the shape of the piece and carves out the designs. The piece is held together with a tack like substance so it can be taken apart and re-constructed. I like how you can take something as familiar as a brick and turn it into something artistic and unique. The contrast of clean, sharp lines with the oblong shapes create a very modern and contemporary design.

"Bungalow" 14x30"
Bronze
This piece caught my attention because it reminded me of our hand sculptures.I enjoy the contrast between the smooth hands and the rough house and jagged trees. The use of the patina finish on the house also adds interest and variety to the piece. The message I get from this piece is showing a stable home where a family can grow and share memories for a lifetime. The tree resembles growth and life. The hands embrace the home showing safety and stability.

Repositionable Wood Sculpture
The unique shape and movement of this piece intrigued me. The sculpture can be bent into a variety of positions re-creating the piece each time. I like the aspect of movement and being able to interact with the piece, if I were to touch it and bend it!( that probably wouldn't be allowed!) It is a sleek and simple design but the staggered position of the separate pieces make it interesting. The artist gives this sculpture life because he captures an organic feeling of movement.
